Sources: Ex-NFL DE Hardy to face Greene next

Former NFL All-Pro Greg Hardy will return to the Octagon against Maurice Greene in a heavyweight fight on a UFC Fight Night card Oct. 31, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday night.

No location has been determined for the event. MMA Junkie was the first to report the news.

Hardy (6-2, 1 NC), 32, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Yorgan De Castro at UFC 249 on May 9. Before that, Hardy dropped a unanimous decision to Alexander Volkov last November.

A former Pro Bowl defensive end, Hardy has been training in MMA since 2016 and made his pro debut in 2018. He earned his way to a UFC contract with two first-round TKOs on Dana White’s Contender Series and had his first fight with the promotion in January 2019.

Hardy was convicted on a domestic violence charge in 2014, but it was later overturned on appeal when the woman who accused Hardy didn’t show up to a jury trial.

Greene (9-4) is coming off a third-round submission win over Gian Villante in June. The 6-foot-7 Virginia native snapped a two-fight losing streak with that victory. Greene, 34, is nicknamed “The Crochet Boss” due to his being a crocheting enthusiast for more than a decade.
