Lee Selby and George Kambosos Jr’s world-title eliminator, scheduled for Oct. 3, has been cancelled and a new date is yet to be scheduled.

ESPN understands the IBF world lightweight title eliminator has gone back to purse bids after it was originally due to take place at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales in May, in a show promoted by Matchroom, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Former IBF world featherweight champion Selby (28-2, 9 KOs), 33, from Wales, was due to face Australian Kambosos (18-0, 10 KOs), 27, to dispute the right to face IBF world titleholder Teofimo Lopez — the New Yorker who is set to face WBA-WBO champion Vasiliy Lomachenko in a title unification fight to be broadcast on ESPN on Oct. 17.

It is still unclear when fans will be allowed back into sports events in the U.K. and Kambosos’ team may try and make the fight happen in Australia.

Selby last fought in a points win over Ricky Burns in October last year, while Kambosos won a split decision over Mickey Bey in New York in December.
