Who has the best chance to make the College Football Playoff?

Notre Dame upended Clemson on Saturday night in one of the true classics of this unusual season to date. What does the result mean for both teams’ 2020 College Football Playoff chances?

The Fighting Irish took a giant step toward the program’s second CFP appearance, increasing their playoff odds in this week’s Allstate Playoff Predictor to 46.4%, behind only Alabama (90.5%) and Ohio State (73.6%), which held firm at 1-2 on the list.

The Tigers, meanwhile, saw their CFP chances tumble to 45%, just behind Notre Dame on the revised list. Clemson and Notre Dame could potentially meet again for the ACC championship on Dec. 5.

In terms of odds to win it all, the Predictor still likes the Tigers slightly better than the Irish. Clemson has a 10.6% chance to win another national title, down from 15.8% last week. Notre Dame saw its title chances increase from 1.9% to 5.7%.

Another major Predictor storyline involved Georgia, whose loss to rival Florida damaged its Playoff hopes significantly. The Bulldogs dropped from fifth to 12th on the Playoff odds list, falling from 26.5% probability to just 3.3% with their second loss.
