PFL champ Harrison to face Cotton on Dec. 17

PFL lightweight champion Kayla Harrison will get a second fight in 2020 after all, as she has booked a 155-pound contest against Jozette Cotton at Titan FC 66 on Dec. 17.

Harrison (8-0) is still under exclusive contract with PFL, but was given permission to fight outside the organization because of the postponement of PFL’s 2020 season. She defeated Courtney King last month on an Invicta FC card in Kansas City and will now close out the year against Cotton at Titan’s event in Miami.

The lightweight bout is a rematch of a fight that took place in the PFL in August 2018. Harrison defeated Cotton via second-round TKO in what was her second pro MMA fight.

“Kayla’s obviously a phenomenal talent and we’re excited to have her,” Titan FC COO Lex McMahon told ESPN on Monday. “And Jozette is super tough, super credible. It’s going to be interesting to see if Jozette puts up a different fight than she did last time.”

McMahon said he is still determining Harrison’s placement on the event, but added it’s being considered as the main event.

Harrison’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, confirmed Harrison’s involvement. Harrison was so desperate to fight again before the end of the year, Abdelaziz actually put out an offer on social media requesting any potential opponent reach out to him directly.

“It wasn’t easy to find an opponent,” Abdelaziz told ESPN. “Thank you to Jozette for accepting the fight. Her management reached out to me, I reached out to Lex and we got it done. I want to thank everyone for making this happen, including the PFL for giving Kayla the opportunity.”

The event will take place at Intercontinental Hotel in Miami and air on UFC Fight Pass.
