A UFC strawweight bout between Nina Ansaroff and Mackenzie Dern is in the works for April 10, according to multiple sources.
Contracts have not been signed, but both sides have agreed to the opponent and date. The UFC has not formally announced an event or location on April 10.
Ansaroff (10-6), the fiancée of UFC two-weight champion Amanda Nunes, did not fight in 2020, as she gave birth to the couple’s daughter Raegan Ann Nunes in September. Her last fight was a decision loss to Tatiana Suarez in June 2019. Prior to that defeat, Ansaroff had won four in a row.
Dern (10-1), who took a year off in 2018 to give birth to a daughter, is surging up the strawweight rankings thanks to three consecutive wins in 2020. She recorded first round finishes against Hannah Cifers and Randa Markos, as well as a decision over Virna Jandiroba at UFC 256 this month.
Dern suffered a broken nose in the win over Jandiroba, per sources. She is scheduled to undergo a minor procedure on the injury this week, and is expected to make a full recovery well in time to train for the bout.
