The UFC has moved a highly anticipated heavyweight matchup between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Ciryl Gane into a main event slot on Feb. 27, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.
The heavyweight fight was originally targeted for a card on March 13. However, the UFC changed it to a five-round headliner at UFC Fight Night on Feb. 27, after the earlier event’s original main event, a light heavyweight contest between Dominick Reyes and Jiri Prochazka, was postponed.
Rozenstruik (11-1) broke the news himself on social media, and sources confirmed to ESPN that the promotion plans to finalize and announce the bout.
“Ladies and gentlemen, my fight against Ciryl Gane got rescheduled for February 27,” Rozenstruik wrote on Twitter. “[Five rounds by five minutes], main card. Spread the word!”
Rozenstruik is coming off a knockout win over former champion Junior dos Santos in August, while Gane (7-0), of France, is on a four-fight win streak in the UFC. He also holds a knockout win over dos Santos, from December.
