Ishant Sharma dismissed Dan Lawrence on Day 4 of the ongoing first Test between India and England in Chennai to claim his 300th wicket in the longest format of the game on Monday. Wishes started pouring in from all corners for Ishant as he became the third Indian pacer to take 300 or more wickets in Tests. Former and current cricketers extended their best wishes to the 32-year-old fast-bowler. After the fourth day’s play, Ishant took to Twitter to thank everyone for their “good wishes” and said that the journey has been long but it is worth remembering.

“Thank you everyone for sending your good wishes across to me for #300TestWickets. The journey has been long, but a one to remember. A token of thanks to you all for being a part of it. It means the world to me! Marking this one for #TeamIndia. Onwards and upwards,” Ishant tweeted.

Ishant, who made his comeback after missing the Australian tour due to an injury, impressed one and all in the first innings as he returned with figures of two for 52 from 27 overs.

On Monday, the pacer did not get the new ball as India skipper Virat Kohli went for spin from both ends but Ishant struck soon after he was introduced into the attack and ended Lawrence’s gritty stay in the middle.

He trapped Lawrence right in front of the stumps with an in-swinger that came back in sharply after pitching.

On the fourth day of the Chennai Test, it was Ravichandran Ashwin who stole the show with his 28th five-wicket haul in Tests. The off-spinners returned with figures of six wickets for 61 to help India bowl out England for 178 in their second innings.
