Real Madrid snatch draw, stay behind Atletico

Soccer

Real Madrid benefited from a late own goal to get a 2-2 draw with Sevilla FC but couldn’t leapfrog Atletico Madrid in the La Liga title race.

Diego Carlos’ own goal late into stoppage time gave Real a share of the points. Ivan Rakitic’s penalty in the 78th minute seemed to have given Sevilla the win but the hosts salvaged the draw.

Real are ahead of Barcelona due to their head-to-head advantage but both sides are two points behind Atletico Madrid, who top the table with 77 points.
