Sources: Luque-Chiesa added to UFC 265 card

The UFC has added a welterweight matchup between Vicente Luque and Michael Chiesa to UFC 265 in August, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The UFC 265 pay-per-view event is slated to take place on Aug. 7. The UFC has not announced a location.

It’s an important fight in the division, as Luque and Chiesa are the Nos. 5- and 6-ranked UFC welterweights, respectively.

Luque (20-7-1) is coming off the biggest win of his career, a first-round submission of former champion Tyron Woodley in March. The 29-year-old from Brazil has won nine of his past 10 contests, with eight finishes during that span.

Chiesa (18-4) is on a four-fight win streak, including a five-round decision over Neil Magny in January. Fighting out of Spokane, Washington, Chiesa is 4-0 since moving up from the 155-pound division in 2018.

A female bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena is also booked to UFC 265.
