Fury urges Joshua to agree Dec. bout

Tyson Fury has urged Anthony Joshua to sign a contract for their proposed bout on Dec. 3.

On Monday, Fury said he had called off the fight after Joshua failed to sign the contract within the self-imposed deadline of 5 p.m. on Monday. Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, though, told ESPN the fight was still a possibility.

On Thursday, Fury said in a Twitter post: “My promoter Frank Warren convinced me to let Queensberry carry on negotiating with your team this week, despite me knowing that you were never going to do this fight.”

Joshua is looking to bounce back after two consecutive losses against Oleksandr Usyk and Fury said Joshua is a “coward” for not yet agreeing the December bout.

“I had a bet with Frank that it didn’t matter what we offered you, you would not take this fight,” Fury said.

“So, it’s up to you, either I win my bet and you show the public the coward that you are or get your lawyers and your team on the phone today with my side, who are all available as they have been the whole time and get the contract signed.

“You have had this contract for two weeks now, my team have got everything done with the broadcasters, tickets, venue, everything is ready to go.

“Someone sent me a video of your man Eddie, talking about the Wilder fight with you a while back and he says in there if you want a fight made, you, your team and your lawyers move quickly to make it happen.

“You have had 14 days, pull your finger out and make this fight happen for the British boxing public.

“Don’t be a coward, instruct your team to get this deal done.”

Joshua’s promoter Hearn told Sky Sports: “I don’t know why Fury keeps setting unrealistic deadlines whilst offering the fight to a number of other heavyweights.

“You can’t publicly keep pulling out of a fight and then restart negotiations when there has been so many positive conversations had.

Manuel Charr, who Fury said he would fight if Joshua failed to meet the deadline, responded in a video posted on Instagram saying: “When you say Joshua is out, he is out. You say to everyone you want [to] fight me, now you are like duck. Take the fight.”
