Camilo Villegas was named the new chairman of the PGA Tour’s Player Advisory Council on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old Colombian will serve in that role for the remainder of 2024. The council advises and consults with the PGA Tour Policy Board and commissioner Jay Monahan on issues affecting the tour.

Following his tenure as council chairman, Villegas will replace Jordan Spieth as a player director on the policy board on Jan. 1, 2025, and serve a three-year term (2025-27).

The other player directors are Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Adam Scott, Webb Simpson and Peter Malnati.

Villegas is a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, most recently at last November’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

He is one of 10 past champions (2010) in the field for this week’s Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
