From the Octagon to the farm: UFC featherweight converts cage into chicken coop

MMA fighters can upcycle too.

UFC featherweight contender Bryce Mitchell, who goes by the moniker “Thug Nasty,” is outspoken about his lifestyle as a farmer when he is not competing in the Octagon. The fighter who hails from Arkansas has found a couple of new uses for an old MMA training cage at his home.

Mitchell converted the inside of the cage into a chicken coop, featuring nesting boxes, roosting bars and a roof, while also turning the space below the cage into a pig pen.

In a post on Instagram, Mitchell showed viewers the new home for his livestock and gave everyone a look at how he feeds the chickens.

While Thug Nasty appears to be doing well at home, his last performance inside the Octagon didn’t go as well as his latest project. Mitchell was finished in two of his last three fights. Most recently, Mitchell was on the wrong end of a brutal first-round knockout at the hands of Josh Emmett at UFC 296 last December.

Following the KO loss, in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Mitchell announced that he would be taking a self-imposed six-month hiatus away from MMA to recover and be with his family while working on his farm.
