Four-star safety Tae Harris, No. 48 in the ESPN 300, flipped his commitment from Clemson to Georgia Tech on Saturday, securing the Yellow Jackets a key late-cycle addition 11 days before the start of the early signing period.

Harris, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound defender from Cedartown, Georgia, is ESPN’s No. 4 safety in the Class of 2025. His commitment comes two days after Harris visited Georgia Tech during the Yellow Jackets’ 30-29 win over NC State.

He becomes the second-highest-ranked member of Georgia Tech’s 2025 class, which now includes pledges from six ESPN 300 prospects.

Harris’ flip for coach Brent Key marks the latest move in a winding recruitment for the ninth-ranked recruit in the state of Georgia. Harris initially committed to Georgia in June 2023 before pulling his pledge from the Bulldogs in January. He followed with a commitment to Clemson two months later and remained the top-ranked member of the Tigers’ 2025 class until Saturday morning.

Harris joins four offensive tackle Josh Petty (No. 22 in the ESPN 300) as the second top-100 prospect committed to the Yellow Jackets in 2025. Georgia Tech is set to sign a talented defensive class when the early signing period opens Dec. 4, now headlined by Harris and fellow in-state ESPN 300 commits in defensive tackle Christian Garrett (No. 147) and cornerback Dalen Penson (No. 185). All told, the Yellow Jackets’ six ESPN 300 pledges in the 2025 class represent the program’s most ever in a single recruiting cycle.

Georgia Tech approaches the early signing period with the nation’s No. 18 recruiting class in ESPN’s latest team rankings for 2025.

Bowl eligible for a second straight season, the Yellow Jackets will close the regular season at Georgia in Week 14.
