Illness scraps Rozenstruik-Tybura UFC 273 bout

A heavyweight bout between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Marcin Tybura has been removed from the UFC 273 card because of an illness by Tybura, the UFC announced Friday.

Tybura was the second-to-last fighter to weigh in Friday morning, but he was well within the 266-pound, nontitle heavyweight limit, weighing 253 pounds. The UFC did not go into detail about Tybura’s illness.

Tybura (22-7), a 36-year-old from Poland, had a five-fight winning streak snapped in his last fight, a loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC 267 last October. Rozenstruik (12-3), a 34-year-old from Suriname, has dropped three of five.

UFC 273 will move on with 12 fights, including Alexander Volkanovski defending his UFC featherweight title against Chan Sung Jung in the main event. In the co-main event, champion Aljamain Sterling and interim champ Petr Yan will unify the UFC bantamweight title.
