Jets coach Bowness back after leave of absence

Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness returned to the team Friday after taking a leave of absence to attend to his wife.

Bowness has been away from the Jets since Oct. 23, one day after Judy Bowness suffered a seizure.

Associate coach Scott Arniel has been serving as the interim head coach in his absence.

Winnipeg, which has posted a 9-2-2 record in that span, returns to action on Friday night against the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Fla.

Bowness, 68, is in his second season coaching the current version of the Jets and 14th season as an NHL head coach. He owns a 269-389-33 record with 48 ties in 739 career games behind the bench.
