Flyers captain Couturier returns against Bruins

Philadelphia Flyers captain Sean Couturier returned to the ice for Saturday afternoon’s home game against the Boston Bruins after serving as a healthy scratch for the previous two contests.

Couturier sat out Philadelphia’s 4-3 win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday and a 3-2 overtime loss on the road against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

He replaced fellow forward Nicolas Deslauriers in Saturday’s lineup for the Flyers (35-26-9, 79 points), who have dropped 10 of their past 16 games (6-7-3) to see their hold on third place in the Metropolitan Division trimmed to just two points over the Washington Capitals.

Couturier, 31, has scored just one goal in his past 27 games and has totaled 36 points (11 goals, 25 assists) in 64 games this season.

He has 496 points (191 goals, 305 assists) in 785 career games with the Flyers, who selected him with the No. 8 pick in the 2011 NHL draft.
