Wales and British & Irish Lions player Jamie Roberts has signed a contract with Dragons, the club announced on Monday.

The 33-year-old will join the Welsh side with immediate effect after seven years away which included a stint with South African side the Stormers.

The centre left Cardiff Blues in 2013 to join Racing 92 in France and went on to play for Harlequins and Bath.

Capped 94 times by Wales, he also featured in the 2009 and 2013 British & Irish Lions tours but hasn’t played for his country since 2017.

“When I left Wales in 2013 to play my rugby outside my home country, I always promised myself that I’d endeavor to return and play in Wales again,” Roberts said in a statement.

“I’m sincerely grateful for having this opportunity, especially given the current climate we find ourselves in.

“I’m very proud and grateful to have achieved a lot of what I set out to achieve in the game and now is a perfect time for me to help many of these young Dragons achieve theirs, as a collective and individually.”
