It was a welcome sight for many cricket fans as Rohit Sharma was seen marshaling the troops during Mumbai Indians’ victory over Punjab Kings in IPL 2024 on Thursday. Hardik replacing Rohit as the MI skipper resulted in a big controversy and there were several reports claiming that there was a huge rift between the two cricketers. However, during the match against PBKS, Hardik and Rohit were seen speaking to each other as the game went down to the wire and the Indian cricket team skipper took over the duties. He was seen setting the field and also had long conversations with the bowlers.

Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh was thrilled to see Rohit in his ‘old avatar’ and said that he was happy that senior figures like Hardik, Rohit and Jasprit Bumrah were discussing the plans.

“The one good thing I saw today – Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were consulting each other. In the last two overs, I saw Rohit Sharma was captaining Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma was setting the field, talking to the bowlers and was back in his old avatar as a skipper. Mumbai Indians ended up winning the game but there is a long road ahead for them and it is not going to be easy,” he said on his YouTube channel.

Mumbai Indians rode performances from Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav to register a thrilling nine-run victory over Punjab Kings in IPL 2024.

“Very good game of cricket. Everyone’s nerve got tested. We did speak about before the game that the character will be checked in this game. Naturally you think you’re ahead in the game. But we knew IPL has a tendency to produce these games. Unbelievable – coming in and playing like that (Ashutosh’s knock). Almost every ball hitting the middle. Happy for him and chuffed for his future. We did speak in the timeout that it doesn’t matter how good we look. We’ll keep scrapping in this game. We were quite soft in certain overs. Nevertheless, a win is a win,” Hardik said at the post-match presentation.
